How To Cut Out Sugar

Everyone knows that processed sugar is not good for our bodies. It can do so many negative things that outweigh the way it tastes. Today I'm sharing with you a few easy tips on how to cut sugar out of your life for good.

1. Understand Sugar. I suggest you do a little of your own research. There is good and bad sugar. The sugar in an apple is completely different then the sugar in an Oreo.
2. Read Food Labels. A lot of your every day foods have more sugar then you have realized. Make sure you read the labels before you eat.
3. Learn Sugar Synonymous. Companies are 'smart' in the sense that they try to fool us all and use a few different words so they do not have to say sugar. For the most part any word ending in -ose is another word for sugar.
4. Use Different Flavors. Instead of adding sugar to your tea or coffee add something like honey or lemon. There are so many different substitutes to use for different flavors!
5. Do NOT Drink The Sugar. The last thing you want is to drink up added sugars. There is no need! Opt for water every time over the sugary soda.

It is important to try and stick with it when you're trying to cut out sugar!

Smoky Mountains Trip Recap + Tips

For spring break this year, Tyler and I decided to do something different. We both live healthy lifestyles and love to be outside; so this year we decided to go hiking! We spent three days in the Mountains and then we went to Georgia to spend time with his family (I will cover that trip next!). We went to the Smoky Mountains and hiked Mount LeConte. It's a twelve mile mountain and I was not ready. It was mentally and physically exhausting. However when we got to the top the views were flawless. We hiked through streams, on rocks, everything you can even imagine.

Tyler and I stayed at West Gate Resorts and it was absolutely beautiful there. They treated us so well and the resort was inexpensive for everything we got! The apartment we stayed in was beautiful and we felt so at home. It was super high up on the mountain so the view from outside our windows was out of this world!

Tips for visiting the Smoky Mountains:
-Stay somewhere in the mountains.
-Pack extra water and extra snacks.
-Pack extra clothing because it gets colder as you get higher and loose elevation.
-Pack a first aid kit, just in case.
-Duct.Tape. You can use it for so many uses. I ended up putting it on my heels just in case I got blisters.
-Don't forget your sun glasses!
-Hike at your own pace. You loose a lot of elevation and can get winded easily. Even if you're experienced and fit, take it kinda easy.

We absolutely adored spending time in the mountains and I would love to go back to hike again!

Have you been to the Smokys? Let me know in the comments below!

Instagram Recap

I've been so busy and all of the place recently. Midterms kicked my booty then I went straight to the Smoky Mountains and to Georgia for Spring Break. Look forward to pictures on that trip soon! However today I'm sharing with you some of my most recent Instagram pictures! Don't forget to follow me on Insta under x0nicolee!

This is a photo of my go to snack recently: chia seed pudding with strawberries. I make it at the beginning of the week and snack on it all week long. I love putting either strawberries or chocolate chips in it! So good and so healthy!!

Spring is approaching and nothing makes me happier then fresh flowers. After the gym the other day I ran into the grocery to pick up these flawless yellow tulips!

This is a photo from my trip to the Smoky Mountains. It was seriously beautiful.

Goog magazines and a good drink are my go to for when I'm traveling. This Vita Coco pineapple water is delish!

Nothing better then a nice yoga class to end an evening. I've recently been taking classes at a local studio and I feel stronger and stronger every day.

I hope you enjoyed this instagram roundup.

Tips For Starting Your Own Blog

Hi guys! Today I'm sharing with you a handful of tips on how to create your own blog. I've gotten a lot of questions of the years and today Gena from GlamMeUp and I decided to collaborate and share with you our best ten tips! My tips cover things like motivation and coming up with good content while Gena is talking about how to use blogger and some of the more technical parts of blogging! Be sure to watch both videos for all ten tips!!

1. Create & Maintain A Schedule. When you are coming up with great posts, be sure to also create a schedule you can stick to. Your readers will rely on your posts. Maybe schedule to post every single day or just MWF.

2. Blog Seasonally. Right now we're in the middle of March and it's the perfect time to talk about St. Patricks day, spring break, and spring cleaning ideas! Try to create content that is seasonally and current!

3. Images Profession ~ Content Short & Sweet. Keep things simple. Great pictures and a few paragraphs are more then enough. We are all way to busy to read 'books' on your blog.

4. Create Weekly Posts. Consider posting "Friday Favorites' every single Friday. Or maybe "Tea Time Tuesday" every single Tuesday. This will help you keep on track and give your readers something to look forward to.

5. Be Genuine. When you're commenting on other peoples' blogs, be sure to actually mean the words you say. Try to create friendships!

Becoming A Minimalist

As I'm getting older I'm starting to realize what life is really about. It's not about how many lip glosses you have or the number of shoes in your closet; it is more about the experiences you live and the things that mean something to you. I am planning to move this fall and if we're being honest: I have too much stuff. There is no way I'm going to be moving all of this crap so I need to deal with it now. So much makeup I don't use, too many bottles of lotions & perfume I will never go through, and don't even get me started on my closet. This has happened because I have a shopping problem and also because I have been sent a lot of things to review over the years. I am so thankful for everything I have, but I just have too much. So many things I own get neglected and I really want to become more of a minimalist.
My goal is to use up a lot of the makeup and skincare products I have and get rid of the things I will never use. As for my closet, I plan to donate any pieces I do not see myself getting use out of in my near future. I plan to document my progress and would love to hear your thoughts on this!
Do you have any tips on how to become a minimalist?!
