5 Easy Tips To Help You Break Up With Snacking

I don't know about you, but I feel like I snack all day long and that's where so many extra calories are coming from. After breakfast, I snack. After lunch, I snack. After dinner (late at night...), I snack. It's becoming a problem and as the holidays are here, I need to cut it out if I want to enjoy the cookies and wine. Here are a few easy tips to help you break up with your bad habit of snacking!

1. Step away from the tv.
As we watch tv, YouTube videos, and Nexflix; we mindless eat. We aren't eating because we're hungry, we're eating because it's satisfying and we need to keep moving. As we have done it so much, it's becoming a habit. Are you eating while watching tv because you're hungry or because it's a habit?

2. Drink water. 
Your brain might think you're hungry, but those hunger cravings might actually be dehydration. Instead of eating something, drink a huge glass of water first. Still hungry? Then have a healthy snack.

3. Brush your teeth.
Who likes eating anything after they have brushed their teeth?

4. Keep a food diary. 
When I was counting calories and watching everything I ate, I found this very useful. It not only keeps me on track, but I am less likely to eat a lot of junk if I know I have to write it down.

5. Chew gum.
Keeping your mouth busy, can distract you from being hungry.

  2. Went to fetch a bottle of water immediately!! ;-). You're so right in everything!!! Just can add one thing I've heard: chew everything carefully and for long - so you have the impression to have eaten more, and digestion goes better and faster, too.

  5. I'm a late night snacker! Brushing your teeth totally works. I even pop in my retainer for good measure.

  6. Gum and water are totally my saviours! I'm guilty of always needing to snack, and fun flavoured gum or flavoured water is my favourite! The Candy Cane gum from Trident is seriously an obsession this winter!
