Class to Closet: Getting Older

Getting Older

Today marks my 21st birthday. Where in the world did the time go? I honestly feel like I'm 16 or 17.. but here I am.. 21 years old.. a junior in college. It's crazy to think about how fast time goes and how much faster it goes as you get older. If we're being honest, today I'm spending my day in class then going out to dinner with Tyler, my parents, and a few other family members. Friday I'm getting together with a girlfriend to go out for margs and Saturday Tyler and I are going to go shopping all day and probably a nice dinner.

I wanted to talk about a few things I've learned by age 21.

It's okay to be confused | I always wanted to be an elementary school teacher growing up. As I got older I changed my mind 1500 times, but always came back to teaching. Everyone tried to talk me out of it. After following my heart I decided it was the right thing for me to do. I know myself best, and I think that's what's important.

A job shouldn't make you miserable | I've had my fair share of part time jobs. A pizza shop, Bed Bath and Beyond, Aeropostale, Meijer, and a few others. I think you have to realize what you enjoy. Retail, food, office, ect. If it makes you miserable, it isn't worth it. I don't care if you make $8 or $25 an hour, the money isn't what makes you happy. Whether you're working a part time job while in school or you're working a full time career, make sure it makes you happy.

School is important | I didn't give a damn in high school about my grades. I wanted to have a good time and spend time with my friends. I got decent grades and got into every college I applied to. However, when I hit college everything changed. I cared about my school work because I cared about my future. If I want to have a career in teaching, I have to succeed in my own education first.

Do more of what makes you happy | I started a pure fashion blog 3 years ago and I loved it. Then I went into YouTube and loved making beauty and fashion videos. Now I'm here with this lifestyle blog.  I still love making videos on YouTube (please come check them out if you haven't!) but I LOVE this blog. It's my baby. There's something about writing and taking pictures and connecting with other people who share the same passion that you do.

  3. Hi! I found your blog in the comment section of College Prepster's blog (random haha!) I love the blog and you have yourself a new reader! Happy birthday! I especially like the one about it being okay to be confused sometimes. I'm guilty of always needing some sort of plan or clear defined path, I have to remind myself of this all the time, so I can definitely relate!

    Happy blogging. <3
